How to upgrade to firmware 4.x?

Follow the steps below to upgrade your router from firmware 3.x to 4.x.

Note: Please do not keep settings when upgrading from v3.x to v4.x, as this may cause instability. Back up any critical settings before upgrading.

The GL-B1300 and GL-S1300 do not support mesh function in firmware v4.x.

Method 1. Local Upgrade

You can upgrade the firmware via web Admin Panel.

  1. Upgrade the firmware to the latest stable 3.x version.

  2. Download the 4.x firmware here. Make sure you download the one for common upgrade.

  3. Log in to the web Admin Panel, go to Upgrade -> Local Upgrade. Upload the firmware file you just donwloaded.

    Note: 4.x firmware is not compatible with 3.x firmware. When upgrading from 3.x firmware, do NOT keep settings.

Method 2. U-Boot Upgrade

  1. Download the 4.x firmware here. Make sure you download the one for U-Boot.

  2. Refer to this U-Boot guide to flash the firmware.
